No sweepstakes-specific statute, but effectively closed by enforcement rather than legislation: the MGCB has used existing law to push dual-currency sweepstakes operators out of Michigan since cease-and-desist actions began in late 2023 and continuing through 2025-2026, and secondary reporting states that no sweepstakes casino platform legally operates in Michigan as of May 2026. Michigan is also on Stake.us's 21-state restricted list, so the largest brands geo-block it. Treat as de facto prohibited; Michigan is NOT on the list of states with an enacted statutory sweepstakes ban.

Unlicensed internet gaming is illegal under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act and the MGCB enforces it aggressively: 12 cease-and-desist orders to offshore online casinos and sportsbooks announced 2026-01-03, and an announcement on 2026-04-07 that 45 offshore operators had been served over the preceding four months. Michigan is one of the most active US states against offshore and crypto casinos.
