Online-Casinos in District of Columbia

District of Columbia has not legalised real-money online casino. That means no operator holds a District of Columbia licence for casino games, and any site offering them to residents is doing so outside the state's licensing framework. Online casino is not legal. Council Bill B26-0656 (Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026, Councilmember Felder, introduced April 9, 2026) would legalise online slots, table games and poker (25% tax, $2M licence) with expedited licences for existing sportsbooks, and ban sweepstakes casinos; a hearing was held May 4, 2026 and the bill had not passed as of the latest reporting. No online casino licences exist; offshore/crypto casinos are unauthorized. Bovada lists DC as a prohibited jurisdiction. A state that has not legalised online casino has not thereby made an offshore site legal. The practical difference for a player is recourse: there is no state regulator to complain to when something goes wrong.
