Play blackjack under the usual rules, with a Lightning Fee of 100% added to the initial bet. Win a hand and you are awarded a random multiplier between 2x and 25x. That multiplier is not paid immediately: it is carried to the Lightning Card round, where a card is drawn and the multiplier is applied if you qualify. Losing a hand loses both the bet and the fee.
Lightning Blackjack is documented at 99.56% return to player, which is a house edge of 0.44%. 99.56% with optimal strategy, measured against the total including the Lightning Fee. The 99.56% figure comes from review coverage of Evolution's published maths rather than a direct read of a specification sheet. It assumes optimal strategy, which differs slightly from standard basic strategy because the multiplier layer changes the value of some decisions. That percentage applies to every unit you wager, not to the money you deposit. Play a £100 balance through £2,000 of bets and the edge is charged on the £2,000.
Much higher than standard blackjack. The doubled stake and the multiplier layer widen results in both directions. Turning the risk up does not make a game more or less generous over time. It widens the distribution: frequent small wins become rare large ones while the average stays where the operator set it.
The house edge is fixed by the wheel or the draw and the payouts attached to it. Tracking past results, following a streak or staggering stakes does not change it, because each round is independent. Set a loss limit before playing and treat the edge as the cost of the entertainment. The headline 99.56% is close to standard blackjack, but it is measured against a stake that is twice as large, so the expected loss per hand in cash terms is roughly double that of an ordinary blackjack table at the same nominal bet. Correct strategy here differs from plain basic strategy, because a winning hand is worth more than usual once the multiplier is counted.
An additional 100% of the initial bet, charged on every round. A 10 unit bet costs 20 units in total.
The percentage is similar, but it applies to double the money, so in cash terms a round costs roughly twice as much on average.
Mostly, but not exactly. The multiplier makes winning hands more valuable, which shifts a small number of decisions. The 99.56% figure assumes the adjusted strategy.
