Promo Codes

Casino marketing runs on affiliates. Independent sites, social accounts, forums and streamers send traffic to operators and are paid for the players who sign up. Payment needs attribution, and attribution needs an identifier that survives a click, an app install and a registration form. That identifier is usually a link, and when a link will not survive the journey, it is a code.

That is the whole function. The code says this account came from this partner. Everything else about the offer is set by the operator's standard promotion for your country and account type. When the same code appears on fifty different websites, all claiming it is exclusive, you are looking at one campaign distributed to fifty partners, or at fifty partners copying one another.

There are two payment models behind the code and they explain most of what you see. A cost-per-acquisition deal pays the partner a fixed amount when a referred player deposits, which creates pressure to get you registered and funded quickly. A revenue share deal pays the partner a percentage of what the operator earns from you over time, which means the partner's income tracks your losses. Neither model is hidden and neither is illegitimate. Both should inform how you read a recommendation.

It is worth stating plainly that this site is not outside that economy. What we can do is be specific about what we check and why, which is what our methodology page is for.

Do this before you register, because applying a code afterwards is often impossible and occasionally cancels an offer you already had.

Open the operator's own promotions page directly, without the code, and read the default welcome offer in full. Note three numbers: the wagering multiplier and what it is applied to, the maximum cashout, and the game weighting. Then open the coded version and read the same three. If they match, the code is attribution and the offer is whatever the site was already giving away.

If they differ, work out in which direction. A code can carry a larger headline with a heavier wagering requirement, which is worse value dressed as better. A code can raise a match percentage while introducing a cashout cap. The only way to compare is to price both versions properly, which is turnover required multiplied by the house edge of the game you will actually play. The bonus calculator does that arithmetic.

A promotion advertised without its wagering requirement cannot be assessed. If a page shows a large headline figure attached to a code and does not state the requirement anywhere, treat the requirement as unpublished and the offer as unknown, then go to the operator's terms page rather than guessing.

The failure modes are worth knowing too. Codes expire without the pages promoting them being updated. Codes are frequently region-locked and simply fail silently outside their market. Some cashier flows let a code overwrite a better offer already attached to your account. And a code entered after a deposit usually does nothing at all, because attribution was settled the moment you registered.

A code attached to a streamer is an affiliate code. That is not an accusation, it is the business model, and it is usually disclosed somewhere in a description or a pinned message. The streamer is paid for the players who use it, and under a revenue share arrangement that payment is a percentage of what the operator makes from those players, which is to say a percentage of net losses.

Understanding that resolves most of the confusion around gambling content. The session you are watching is promotional material. The bankroll may be supplied by the operator, the account may be on different terms from a public one, and the losses may not be the streamer's own money in any meaningful sense. A run of results presented as entertainment is a selection from a much longer period of play, and the clips that circulate are selected precisely because they are unusual.

The legal position is tightening in places. In France, the ANJ never authorises online casinos, and the loi du 9 juin 2023 prohibits influencers from promoting unauthorised gambling, so a French-language streamer promoting a casino code is doing something the law addresses directly. If gambling has stopped being entertainment, Joueurs Info Service is on 09 74 75 13 13.

Use a streamer's code if you want to support them and the offer behind it is one you had already decided to take on its own terms. That is a coherent choice. Using it because the code implies a better deal is usually a mistake, because the deal is normally the standard one. Our streamers page goes through how this content is produced and funded in more detail.

After the checks, most codes turn out to be neutral. They do not cost you anything, they do not improve the offer, and using one is a small favour to whoever published it. That is a reasonable outcome to accept, provided you did not choose the operator because of the code.

The order that keeps you out of trouble is to choose the operator first. Licensing, withdrawal behaviour, the games you want to play and the payment methods you can actually use matter more than any promotion. Curaçao now issues licences directly, and Anjouan licences are among the least demanding to obtain, so a licence badge on a footer is a starting point for a question rather than an answer. Our casinos section and methodology set out what we look at.

Then price the offer. Required turnover multiplied by the house edge of the game you will play is the expected cost of clearing it, and comparing that to the bonus tells you whether the offer is the exception worth taking. A crash round reaches a given multiplier with a probability of roughly one minus the edge divided by that multiplier, and no code alters that relationship. The edge is the price of the entertainment. Promotions adjust the price at the margin and the marketing exists to make that adjustment look larger than it is.

And then the code, last, if a code exists and does not make the terms worse. In that order it is a harmless detail. In the other order it is the thing that chose your casino for you.
