Ethereum addresses are public and permanent, and the ecosystem is heavily indexed. Anyone with your address can see your full transaction history, including which contracts and which casino hot wallets you have interacted with. Reusing one address across an exchange, a casino and a personal wallet links all three. Most casinos still run identity checks regardless of the chain you pay on.
An Ethereum transaction costs gas, and the amount of gas depends on what the transaction does. Moving plain ETH is the cheapest operation. Moving a token costs more because it calls a contract. The price you pay per unit of gas is made of a base fee, which the network destroys, and a priority tip, which goes to whoever proposes the block.
Blocks come every twelve seconds, so inclusion is fast if your tip is competitive. If it is not, your transaction simply waits. This is different from Bitcoin only in degree, but it matters because wallets often suggest a tip based on conditions a few seconds ago. During a busy period, an estimate can be stale by the time you sign.
Most wallets let you replace a stuck transaction with the same nonce and a higher fee. Do that rather than sending a second transaction, because two transactions with different nonces can both eventually confirm and you will have deposited twice. If a cashier shows one deposit and your wallet shows two sends, open a ticket with both hashes before assuming the second is lost.
Ethereum mainnet and every major layer 2 use the same address format. The same twenty byte address is valid on all of them and often belongs to the same private key. That is convenient and it is also the trap. A casino that credits deposits on Arbitrum is running software that watches Arbitrum. Send mainnet ETH to that address and nothing in their system notices, even though the funds are sitting at an address whose key the casino holds.
Whether you get it back depends on the operator. Some have a manual recovery process with a fee. Some do not support it at all because the deposit address is generated by a system that never exposes keys for other chains. Treat recovery as a favour rather than a right, and read the network label before every send rather than once.
The same applies in the other direction. Withdrawing to an exchange requires that the exchange credits that asset on that network. Exchanges normally publish one deposit address per network for exactly this reason. Sites that accept several chains are listed on our crypto casinos page, and each cashier's supported networks are worth checking against your own wallet before you fund an account.
Two small problems bite people repeatedly. The first is dust. Casinos set a minimum withdrawal, and a balance below it can be impossible to remove. On mainnet there is a second, harsher minimum: an amount so small that the gas to move it later exceeds its value. That balance is technically yours and practically not.
The second is the empty gas tank. If you withdraw your entire ETH balance to a fresh wallet and later want to move a token from it, you cannot, because the token transfer needs ETH for gas. Leave enough behind to make at least one future transaction, and do that before you need to.
Then there is the pending window. Once you request a payout, the amount is fixed in ETH. If the site pays out automatically you may be holding the asset within a minute. If it queues the request for review, or asks for documents at that moment, you carry the price risk for as long as the review takes and have no way to act on it. Verification finished in advance removes most of that exposure. For sites that publish automatic payout behaviour, see instant withdrawal casinos.
Sometimes, never reliably. The funds usually sit at an address the casino controls the key to, but their crediting system is not watching that chain, so nothing happens automatically. Open a support ticket with the transaction hash and the network you used. Some operators run a manual recovery with a fee, others cannot do it at all. Assume nothing before you send.
Either the casino requires more confirmations than have passed, or the transaction landed on a network they do not monitor for that address. Check which explorer you are looking at. An Arbitrum explorer and a mainnet explorer show different transactions for the same address, and seeing your transfer on one tells you nothing about the other.
No. On Ethereum and its layer 2 networks the address alone identifies the deposit, and casinos issue a unique address per user. Memo and tag fields belong to other chains, notably XRP, which uses a destination tag, and several exchange deposit addresses on other networks. If an Ethereum cashier shows a memo field, stop and check which asset is actually selected.
For small amounts, usually yes, because the fee difference is large and the confirmation is quick. The condition is that both ends support the same network: the casino must credit deposits there and your wallet or exchange must accept withdrawals there. If either end is mainnet only, the saving is not available to you and forcing it creates the wrong network problem instead.
