USDT is public on every chain it lives on, and Tether can freeze balances at specific addresses. That freeze power is the practical difference between USDT and a pure cryptocurrency. Casino deposits and withdrawals are visible to anyone with your address, and identity checks still apply at most operators.
This is the sentence worth internalising. USDT does not have a blockchain. It is a contract deployed separately on Tron, Ethereum, Solana, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and others. Each deployment is its own token with its own balances. Tether backs them all against the same reserves and lets large holders move between chains, but at the level where you are pasting an address, they do not interact.
So when a cashier says USDT, it is incomplete information. TRC-20 means the Tron deployment and uses a Tron address, which starts with T. ERC-20 means the Ethereum deployment and uses an address starting with 0x. Solana uses a base58 address that looks like neither. BEP-20 uses the 0x format too, which is why Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain mix ups are common and Tron mix ups are rarer.
The practical rule: the network must match at both ends of every transfer, and the address format is your last free check. If the casino says TRC-20 and the address you copied starts with 0x, something is wrong before you have sent anything.
USDT never pays its own transfer fee. On Tron the fee is paid in TRX, or covered by energy you have staked for. On Ethereum it is paid in ETH. On Solana it is paid in SOL. A wallet containing two thousand USDT and no TRX can receive, display and do absolutely nothing with that balance.
This produces a specific failure. You withdraw USDT from a casino to a new self custody wallet, the transfer arrives, and then you find you cannot send it anywhere. The fix is to send a small amount of the native coin to that wallet first, which means you need a source for it. Doing this before the withdrawal rather than after saves an awkward hour.
Dust works the same way as on any rail. Casinos set a minimum withdrawal per network, and a balance below it usually cannot be paid out. On ERC-20 there is a second floor: an amount so small that Ethereum gas would exceed it. Keeping small remainders on TRC-20 or Solana avoids that. If you want to compare how different sites handle minimums and fees, start from the payments hub and then the individual casino reviews.
The useful property of USDT for gambling is that it removes one variable. When you request a Bitcoin withdrawal and the site holds it for a two day manual review, you are exposed to the market for two days without holding the asset. With USDT you are exposed to a peg that is designed not to move. That is a genuine reduction in risk and it is the main reason players choose it.
It is not a guarantee of anything else. Tether has the ability to freeze balances at specific addresses, which is a design feature of the token and something no Bitcoin issuer can do, because there is no Bitcoin issuer. In normal use this affects almost nobody, but it is a real difference and worth knowing.
And the peg does nothing to the games. A Plinko drop on a 97 per cent return table costs the same three per cent of stake in expectation whether you funded it with USDT, Bitcoin or a debit card. The stablecoin makes your bankroll easier to measure, which cuts both ways: it also makes it easier to see exactly what a session cost. If that number is uncomfortable, our responsible gambling page is the right next read.
Whichever one both the casino and your sending wallet support, with a preference for TRC-20 or Solana on cost and speed. Use ERC-20 only when the other end supports nothing else, because Ethereum gas can dwarf a small deposit. The cheapest network is irrelevant if the casino does not monitor it for your address.
Not on TRC-20, ERC-20, Solana, BEP-20 or Polygon. On those chains the address alone identifies the deposit. Memos do appear for USDT on some other networks and for certain exchange deposit addresses, so the rule is to use whatever fields the receiving side displays and leave blank only what it leaves blank. XRP is the well known tag case, not USDT.
The formats differ so most wallets will refuse outright, which is the good outcome. If a transfer did go out on the wrong chain to an address the casino controls, contact support with the transaction hash and the exact network. Recovery depends entirely on whether that operator holds keys for the chain you used. Treat it as unlikely rather than routine.
You have no native coin to pay the fee. USDT transfers are paid for in TRX on Tron, ETH on Ethereum and SOL on Solana. Send a small amount of that coin to the same wallet and the USDT becomes movable. This is the most common confusion on this rail and it is not a sign that anything went wrong with the withdrawal.
